Description

‘Shard’, as you might imagine, is named after the iconic London building, and inspired by the bright, airy and light-filled structure; the owner commissioned the vessel as a reflection of the architectural masterpiece. The bespoke build was undertaken and project managed by IBTC (International Boat Building College) in Lowestoft using their most experienced and qualified shipwrights and the result is a simply stunning, modern, luxury, floating penthouse. Designed as a boat for life, the attention to detail is striking with design features that catch the eye at every turn, from the cityscape engraved glass screen to the huge spring radiator in the bathroom and the one and a half metre port side sliding hatch to mention just a few. The asking price does not fully reflect the costs involved in building ‘Shard’, but seeing is believing, so the only way to fully appreciate the unique style and quality of this vessel is to make an appointment to view! We are available 7 days a week for viewings by prior appointment only.
Significant price reduction as the seller is due to relocate abroad.

Construction:

Welded steel plate construction – 12mm bottom plate, 6mm hull sides/decks, 5mm superstructure and roof by Sealake Marine of Lowestoft. Insulation is spray foam. On completion of the build, the boat was transported to Debdale Wharf where the hull was grit blasted, hot zinc metal sprayed and coated with two-pack epoxy resin to finish. The hull was re-blacked with bitumen paint in September 2023.
Forward cratch and aft pram hoods in black acrylic fabric designed and fitted by Titan Canopies provide additional covered living spaces and weather protection. All the windows, doors, side and deckhead hatches are bespoke designs with double-glazed smoked glass and aluminium powder coated frames, all manufactured by Seaglaze Marine, specialists in marine glazing for many of the luxury yacht brands. Every window, door and hatch has a hand turned solid American Walnut frame on the inside.
Internally, the floor is constructed of 15mm marine ply overlayed with Natura 22mm iron bark Mississippi engineered Eucalyptus multiply throughout with specific finishes in each part of the vessel. The side linings up to deck level are white painted marine ply with Eucalyptus boxing for the services on both sides. From deck level up to and including the outer head linings, white painted tongue and groove panelling has been used, with the central section of head lining in decorative veneered panelling. Double glazed doors inset with smoked glass provide access to the bow and stern areas with a sliding acrylic hatch above the stern steps. The bespoke staircases at either end of Shard are hand-crafted in oak, walnut and safety glass.
